The board of directors has clarified the requirements for obtaining a Purple & Yellow key. A member needs to volunteer and log six hours of work before obtaining their key. As before, a membership can be obtained either by purchase (15$) or by also volunteering six hours. Thus a non-member can obtain a key by volunteering a total of twelve hours, two for the membership and two for the key. Previous arrangements will still be honoured of course.
Our Bike Trailer Workshop has finished; Kevin, Jean-François and Marv, with the help of Jim Hoehnle finished the physical construction of the new trailer. It is slightly shorter than the previous "workhorse", but wider and hopefulyl sturdier. It still needs bits filed down and several coats of paint before use. In the future, the participants will be able to share their knowledge and help others build their own bike trailers.

Bike to Work Week Station
A little too late as notification, but the VACC, TREK and the Bike Co-op collaborated this morning in running a Bike Commuter Station at UBC. Cyclists got free coffee, snacks, and the opportunity to enter prize raffles. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Volunteer Appreciation Party!
Volunteers typically come to purple & yellow nights in order to obtain their key. Many volunteers continue to show up because they have fun, want to keep learning about bikes, and are generally awesome. We have not been properly appreciating these people, so we decided to have a party for that reason. The party is on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Bike Kitchen after hours. It will replace the usual P&Y night, and you can show up but keep working on a P&Y if you really want to.
We'll have food and beverages, and there may be special rewards in these forms for volunteers who have donated their time even after getting their P&Y key. If you are able, bring some kind of food! Anything from chips, to a home-made dip or lasagna, it will all be appreciated. Don't worry though, we'll have basic food such as burgers to make sure no one goes hungry.

AMS Bike Co-op Blog!
Hey everyone, the AMS Bike Co-op board members are thinking of using the existing site to hold static information, while this blog would contain stuff like news, meeting minutes and pictures. Hopefully it doesn't suck!
